As we approach a new year, I have decided to begin a blog.  I hope to be able to utilize this blog to record events and life and general. It will be interesting to look back at it in December 2014 and see where I've come.
My name is Amy. I work from home as a freelance writer and it is my hope that this blog will help me stay in writing practice.  I just got started in the freelance writing career. In September I finally finished college after twenty-five years of working towards that goal. I am proud to say that I graduated with a 3.96 G.P.A.  It wasn't an easy road but I made it. Now I find myself starting down a new road as I embark on a writing career. Why did I choose writing? I have always loved to write and it seems to come easy to me. I truly believe that God gave me the gift of writing and it is time I began to use that gift that He gave me.  Freelance writing is not an easy career to make money in and it takes time to establish one's reputation. At this time I work through a website called textbroker.com. I write small articles for websites, blogs, and other online resources. I write on many types of topics. So far I've tackled topics like online gaming websites, health care information technology, boutique hotels, fantasy sports, and more.
I would like to find a part-time job to supplement my writing income. This is because I am not making enough to pay bills.  To make enough money to pay bills I figure I need to write 6 to 8 articles a day and often there aren't enough assignments to fullfill that at this time. As I write more my reputation will grow, I will earn more stars, and open up more writing opportunities for more money.
You are probably wondering why I chose a cat theme for my blog.  Two cats have chosen me as their human and I have come to love them very much. One is a male orange mackerel tabby and the other is a female black cat with a white bib. The orange cat is named Slugger and the black one is Inkspot.
Slugger came into my life first. Two years ago he began coming around in the summer. He would always show up in the evenings and visit me while I sat outside listening to the Royals baseball game. I decided to call him Slugger in honor of the Kansas City mascot. Their mascot is a lion named Slugger.
Inkspot began to show up this past summer. She was a timid thing and it quickly became obvious that she had been abused by her past owners. It took time for me to earn her trust. Once I gained her trust, I found that she is a sweet loving cat. She is still a pretty spooky cat and only trusts certain people. I cherish the trust that she has given me.  They are both outdoor cats. I don't try to tie them down or coop them up. They chose me and not the other way around. They also do an amazing job of keeping the mice and rats at bay.
Today, two days after Christmas, I helped my mother vaccuum and dust her house. She and my Dad are making the trek back to Arizona for the winter. I then took a quick trip to the local dollar store for cat food. When I got home I unloaded the car. As I was coming into the house I took a nasty fall. As I stepped on the doorjamb my wet foot slipped off and got stuck between the door and the jamb. I scraped my leg up pretty badly. It looks nasty but I think I will live. I will keep it clean and put antibiotic salve on it.
We have had two lovely mild days but the weatherman says that winter will return on Saturday night and get cold  and sleet on Sunday. Yuck. But we need the precipitation.  Until tomorrow, my readers, take care and stay warm!
